I love the cleans, especially if you put a coil tap for the bridge on the AXS like my friend has, and the distortion can get pretty mid-heavy and crunchy with the right settings. AFS77T or AFS75T, or any AG, if you ask me.ĪXs, on the other hand, are smaller mahogany solidbodys. And the two models you mentioned look like turquoise pieces of surfy ****, if you ask me. The necks don't feel very Ibanez-y at all, to me. Beautiful jazzy cleans, and mild breakup sounds very good as well, but I hate the stock pups for distortion in most cases, and even after a pickup change, face-melting distortion isn't going to sound great from an Artcore. That being said, Artcores and AXs are completely different kinds of beasts.Īrtcores are hollowbodies, great with roundwound or halfwound strings. First of all, do you really want to spend $400 to replace your guitar, which is probably pretty decent anyway? (seeing as it's low-end Ibanez) You'd be better off saving up, then you'll -really- notice the difference when you upgrade.
